Personal Experience
Attorney Peter N. Upton has been in the active practice of law since his graduation from the Boston University School of Law in 1973. Prior to law school, Attorney Upton graduated from undergraduate school at Princeton University in 1966 with a major in philosophy, and thereafter, entered the Unites States Navy, where he served with distinction as an officer with the elite Underwater Demolition/Seal Teams during the Vietnam War.
Following law school, Attorney Upton returned to the naval service as a military lawyer, serving with the Naval Judge Advocate General Corps, first, as a defense counsel representing service members accused of violations of the Uniform Code of Military Justices, and, secondly, with promotion to serve as a Special Courts Martial Military Judge.
Following his service in JAG, Attorney Upton entered the world of private practice. While affiliated with numerous large law firms in the greater Hartford region, he was able to form his own practice in 2004. Attorney Upton takes great pride in the delivery of client-oriented legal services and represents individuals from all walks of life who have sustained an injury or have been deprived of a benefit which is felt to be richly deserving. To do so, Attorney Upton has received certifications to practice in both the Federal and State court systems, and, additionally, numerous administrative agencies. He has tried numerous cases, both civil and criminal, to successful verdicts and, when necessary, has participated in appeals. Attorney Upton, in addition, is skilled and familiar with the Alternative Dispute Resolution mechanisms available to litigants, and, when settlement options appear as indicated and appropriate, will not hesitate to so proceed.
By virtue of his broad range of experience, Attorney Upton holds himself out as a practitioner in numerous areas of practice, including criminal law, personal injury, product liability, medical malpractice, breach of contract, real estate foreclosure, social security disability, veterans’ rights (including claims against the Department of Veterans Affairs), workers compensation, and more.
